Washington, DC—The Honest Elections Project released the following statement on S1 failing to pass the Senate

“This is a victory for our election system. S.1 was a federal power grab that would have fundamentally undermined the integrity of our elections. S.1 was unconstitutional, unwise, and unnecessary, and would have crippled election safeguards at both the federal and state level. The unrealistic deadlines proposed were a recipe for chaos that risked sending future elections spiraling into chaos like we saw last year. The obvious answer to ensure secure elections is to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat—in other words, the opposite of what these policies would have done.”
